An adult-only eco-friendly boutique hotel for lovers of design, food, travel, and all things local located on the east coast of the island that sits on a white sandy beach. The hotel carefully combines sustainability with laid-back luxury. Their food philosophy is” fresh, local, homegrown, homemade and no waste and keep it simple”.
Designed with elements of local architecture, the brightly coloured hotel is filled with local art and furniture, celebrating Mauritian culture. Organic Carpe Diem beds – created by a chiropractor, organic cotton bedding, bathrobes made from unbleached cotton waste and natural, locally produced toiletries ensure your eco-luxury stay not only a comfortable one but also provides everything you need to relax, escape, and recharge.
Rooms are located by the beach, pool, or gardens, and feature a selection of books, homemade snacks, recycled rubber yoga mats and a reusable water bottle which you can refill at stations around the resort.
There’s a rooftop bar, spa and pool, and sugar-white sand a few steps away. With trips to the sustainable salt farm, skill swaps with islanders and donating your favourite holiday read to the library for the next guest to enjoy. It’s more of a mindset than a hotel.
The hotel prides itself on knowing its farmers and fishermen by name the produce they use in the kitchen are local. There’s a herb wall and vegetable cellar, and guests are welcome to wander in and have a peek. The flavours are from all over, with special leanings to the Med, the Middle East and, of course, Mauritius. Expect a whole lot of smoking and slow-cooking.
