Ayurveda
Ayur-Veda, meaning “the science of life” is an ancient holistic healing system that originated on the subcontinent of India well over 3,000 years ago.
It encompasses a comprehensive approach to health and wellness, integrating physical, mental, and spiritual aspects of well-being.
Ayurveda is based on the belief that the universe, including the human body, is composed of five basic elements, namely space, air, fire, water, and earth.
These elements combine to form three primary life forces known as “doshas” (bodily tissues). They are Vata (space and air), Pitta (fire and water), and Kapha (water and earth). Each dosha governs different physiological functions, and an individual's unique constitution (Prakriti) is determined by the balance of these doshas at birth.
Health in Ayurveda is defined as the balance of the “doshas”. The disease is believed to be caused by an imbalance in these factors, often influenced by diet, lifestyle, and environment.
Diagnostic and Treatment Methods:
Ayurvedic diagnosis involves a detailed examination of an individual's physical attributes, pulse, tongue, eyes, and general outward behaviour. Practitioners also consider the patient's lifestyle, diet, and mental state.
Treatments are highly personalised and can include a combination of:
• Dietary changes: Specific diets to balance the doshas.
• Herbal remedies: Use of natural herbs and plant-based medicines.
• Physical therapies: Including massage, oil treatments, and detoxification.
• Yoga and meditation: To promote mental and spiritual health.
• Lifestyle modifications: Recommendations on daily routines and seasonal activities.
Ayurveda is deeply rooted in the philosophical teachings of the Vedic tradition, and it also aligns with the principles of dharma (duty), artha (prosperity), kama (pleasure), and moksha (liberation), which are considered the four aims of human life.
Spa and Spa Treatments
Spas and spa treatments offer a holistic approach to health and wellness, combining relaxation, beauty, and therapeutic services to improve overall quality of life. They provide a sanctuary for individuals to rejuvenate both physically and mentally, promoting long-term well-being.
Relaxation and stress relief, health and wellness, beauty, and skincare are key features of spas. Massages, Facials, Body Treatments, and Hydrotherapies are some of the common spa treatments available at spas.
Alternative therapies like Reflexology and Aromatherapy are also offered.
