Overview
A small friendly boutique type hotel of only 11 rooms has a wonderfully distinct Tibetan influence with the decor in each bedroom depicting one aspect of Tibetan life in colourful murals. There are Premium Rooms and Superior Rooms to choose from.
Hummingbird Restaurant is a multi-cuisine restaurant at the hotel that serves Indian, Chinese, Tibetan, and other international cuisines. You cannot miss handmade ravioli, Vietnamese spring rolls, and Tibetan thukpa (soup with noodles). If you are in the dining room enjoy your meal with the warmth and welcoming ambiance decorated with beautiful murals of Tibetan landscapes. For outside dining take advantage of Chonor House's gorgeous views and landscaped gardens.
Hummingbird Café at the hotel is another interesting place to be at to try a variety of cakes, fresh juices, and specialty coffee drinks. Set amidst the beautiful gardens of Norbulingka, Café is open year-round from 7 am to 9 pm. Café Hummingbird serves only vegetarian dishes from all around the world. You must try Cheese pizza, Tibetan thukpa, and fresh-baked pita bread well complemented with seasonal juices and smoothies.
The property is run by Tibetans and all money goes to the Norbulingka Institute which funds projects for Tibetan refugees. It is opposite the Dalai Lama's residence and monastery so you will hear the chanting.
