Just an hour's drive from Taj Mahal, nestled in the serene embrace of the Chambal Valley and set within 35 sprawling acres of reclaimed woodland the original heritage plantation “Mela Kothi” – The Chambal Safari Lodge awaits an oasis of tranquillity and gracious hospitality.
Built on a 500-year heritage, The Chambal Safari Lodge is a business designed to allow experience of the natural and cultural heritage of the Chambal Valley. The Lodge employs sustainable social and ecological business practices.
The accommodation combines the warmth of local homes with the comfort of modern amenities. Every effort has been made to make the lodge as eco-friendly and sympathetic to its surroundings as possible. The Lodge offers thirteen rooms/cottages.
The lodge kitchen prepares authentic ‘home cooked’ buffet spreads with fresh organically grown ingredients from our own farms or procured directly from the local farmers. The recipes include a rich and varied mix of local specialties and contemporary Indian and Continental dishes.
The beautiful old trees, extensive gardens, and the restored buildings of the late 18th century stable block provide idyllic settings for mealtimes. Evening bonfires are a good opportunity to interact with other guests or simply sit back and do a spot of stargazing.
